30 Day Shred, Pre-shredded pix

Who could have thought that a before picture would lift one’s spirits? Certainly not me. I’ve been feeling really discouraged about all the hard work I’ve been putting into training and the effort I’ve been putting into watching my calories.

So today begins the Shrinking Jeans 30 day shred challenge. I had done the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video once over a year ago and could BARELY move for 3 days after! It’s been collecting dust ever since. On Thursday 2/25 I decided to get a bit of a head start. I want to be able to complete the challenge, so I wanted to get my body somewhat prepared! I was a bit sore, but NOTHING like I experienced last year. Progress! My triathlon training is paying off!

Saturday morning Daniel took my before (or as I like to call them, my pre-shredded) pictures. Ugh. This morning I took my measurements. Ugh again.

Now I see that other women in the 30 day shred challenge are posting their before pictures. Okay, I’ll be brave and do that too. I remembered that a couple years ago I had taken some before pictures of myself. So, I put aside my Community Property reading (I’m really easily distracted from reading cases about people getting divorced and fighting over who gets what percentage of the house…) and found my before pictures that were taken on 12/31/2006. (Great way to bring in the New Year’s? LOL) When I looked at those pictures and looked at the ones Daniel just took of me, I literally teared up. I am by no means done, or shredded but, my goodness, I have made progress! If there was ever an argument to be made for taking before pictures, this is it!

I still have work to do. I want to lose about 14 more pounds to get to 130. I want to tone up my tummy as much as it will do after having 2 large children. I want to continue to tone up my arms, butt and thighs. It’s happening and I just need to remember it’s a process. Not instantaneous.

Couple things to note: I took the before ones myself. Daniel took the pre-shred ones. (I wish I could find my pink bandana… LOL) The fact that I am allowing a photo with my belly showing is a marked step in self confidence… My legs look better!

So there you have it. Pictures I thought I would NEVER share with ANYONE, I’m sharing with anyone who wants to see. Just wait – 30 days from now and the day before my 37th birthday, I will be shredded and even MORE sexy!

    • Akaisha – The reason I searched for the older pics was because I was really feeling down on myself. The scale isn’t budging much for me and I don’t really notice my clothes fitting better. However, when I looked at my pre-shred pics next to those true “before” pics, I had concrete evidence that I’ve made significant progress! Pictures don’t lie!
