My life and the journey to self-awareness

Shreddin’ through!

I lost 1.2 lbs this week!  Woohooo! (Oh, and today is my 37th birthday!  Can, I assume my Dooney & Bourke purse with matching wallet is in the mail? LOL)

The Shrinking Jeans 30 Shred challenge is over!  I made it!  I shredded 30 consecutive days! I am really proud of myself for sticking it out.  I set a goal at the beginning of the month, that I would complete this challenge – and I did!!

I got back on my training schedule, mostly.  The next 3 weeks are going to be more difficult since my main focus will be studying for finals.  I will make sure to get an hour of training in five days a week, but I really need to pass my exams.  I’ve exceeded the distances needed to complete the sprint triathlon on April 18th, so I am not stressing on that.  After finals, the real, major triathlon training will commence.  (Yikes…)

Last week I talked about making sure I stayed within certain ranges for fat, carbs and protein.  I was within the limits more days this past week, then not!  I’ve added a new table below.  (I love charts and tables, if you can’t tell!)

I made 3 goals last week.  They were:

  1. Drink 64 oz water each day
    1. I reached this goal every day except Saturday!
  2. Finish shredding challenge on 3/30
    1. Done!  Finished!  No more shredding!
  3. Stay under fat grams target at least 5 days
    1. Done!  And, overall for the entire week, I stayed under 30% of my overall calories from fat.

My goals for the upcoming week are:

  1. Drink 64oz water each day
  2. Complete 7 mile training run on Saturday
  3. Put together a full body strength training program I can do 2x’s a week

Highlights of my week:

  • I made those yummy sausage frittatas again.  They are only 95 calories per frittata muffin!  Super yummy and I can pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds before heading out to my internship!
  • I started drinking Wheybolic protein shakes.  It seems to be the only way that I can reach my daily protein goals.  They are actually quite tasty!
  • We went out to eat a lot this week.  However, I made much better choices and was able to stay (mostly) within my ranges!
    • I went to In N Out burger on Friday and I ordered ONLY a protein burger!  Woohoo me on making a better than historical choice!
    • Saturday we went out wine tasting.  We had lunch at a brewery.  I ordered (and shared with my knight) a turkey burger!  I ordered a turkey burger… Who is this person?  LOL
    • Sunday we went out (again) for burgers.  I split my dinner with my son.  I am learning that I don’t need these huge portions that come in restaurants.  I’ve always had difficulty with the eating half and boxing up the other half.  I think that now, this concept will not be quite so difficult.  I’m satisfied after eating half these meals, so why do I need to eat the entire thing?
    • Tuesday night we went out for dinner to celebrate my birthday.  I looked up and planned what I would order ahead of time.  Who knew that there was soo much fat in prime rib?  Sigh.  No prime rib for me.  I don’t want the extra fat.  I actually did pretty well with sticking to the plan.  I ate more of that yummy bread than I planned and there was a beer and an ice cream sundae…  but it was my birthday dinner, so there! 😉
  • I logged 167.4 miles on Runkeeper in March!  OMG wow!  This is the highest number of miles I’ve ever logged in a month!
    • Swim =         5.2 miles
    • Bike =            91.3 miles
    • Run =            30 miles
    • Elliptical =    38.4 miles
    • Other =        2.5 miles

  • Wednesday 3/24/10 weight                                142.8
